13 for 13: Farmer's Market

As hoped in my 13 for 2013, every second Saturday morning, after a lazy lie-in and a slow, hearty breakfast, we amble down the hill to our local farmer's market. Flanked by coastal waters and a historic, far-reaching cemetery, we peruse stall after stall, collecting delicious morsels {those which aren't spreading their roots in our own backyard}, sampling tasty fruits {marionberries are our new fave} and stockpiling homemade jams, chutneys and sauces {plus the occasional bunch of pretty blooms}. Sage is enthralled by the sights, smells and sounds - finding peace in the simplicity and gentle hum of our relaxed wanderings. Along the way we greet many we know, sharing small snippets of our time, our purchases and our lives. In the large cattle shed nearby, fast-paced calls and frequent hammer strikes signal the sale of covetable antique pieces sent to auction - many of which I view as "must-have's" - all of which are deemed "inappropriate" by Mr Sensible Husband. And each time we depart through the rusty, worn gates, we marvel at how great it feels - to support our local people, to know exactly where our food has come from... to have spent time together.

Tell me, do you have a local farmer's market? What's your one staple each time you visit? {Ours is tomato relish!}

Meandering, Blissfully

Life lately, though taking a path vastly different to the one we were first expecting, has been amazingly {and reassuringly} settled. We have found a gentle rhythm, albeit one without even seeking, allowing our little family to hum along harmoniously and happily; an easier than anticipated transition. During the past few sun-drenched, summer weeks, we work as we must to get by, then dash home with haste to revel in cherished time together. A flurry of beating hearts, we cuddle, laugh and share after our few hours apart, and then adventure somewhere simple and close to home, to feast, walk or play. Life is truly good.

Images captured at the divine Bruce's, located on Wynyard's ambling old coast road. Their scrumptious food and mellow vibe makes this the perfect spot for a morning pick-me-up or an afternoon chill-out sesh. You must try their chickpea burger - it's to die for! As are their savoury muffins. Notice the gorgeous exhibition currently wall laden? Curated by none other than Naomi Fenton of Look See - Sage's birthday photographer extraordinaire!

The Party {Her First Birthday Celebration}

Gathered in our humble backyard, we celebrated your first year in our world; the triumphs and the tears, the laughter and love.  At no time could we have envisaged, one year ago, just how very much you would change our lives and our hearts, forevermore.  Never have we known a love like this; both for you, darling girl and for one another. Often, we sit and we watch you, mesmerised and in complete awe; our fingers interlaced, our souls even more so. As our eyes meet, no words are needed. Glistening with pride and pure adoration for everything you are and everything you have become, we still cannot fathom that our love, our bond, our unity has ensued your creation; your emergence into the world. You were meant for us, of that I am eternally certain.

Sage, you have touched my truest, deepest core. Each smile, each sigh, each movement, each breath - if only to capture each one to relive when you’re grown. I will be forever by your side, embracing you hand, whispering of my enduring love. All that is within me is for you.

I carry your heart with me {I carry it in my heart}
I am never without it {anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling}
I fear no fate {for you are my fate, my sweet}
I want no world {for beautiful you are my world, my true}
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
{Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide}
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart {I carry it in my heart}

Sage's birthday images were captured by the incredibly talented Naomi Fenton of Look See by Naomi Fenton. I met gorgeous Naomi whilst attending The Nursery workshop hosted by Tim Coulson last year and her eye for exquisite beauty and design is truly impeccable. Naomi's images are currently being recognised though various state-wide exhibitions and her Pinterest board is a force to be reckoned with! Check her out - she is amazing.
