11/52 {The Berry Clever Edition}

A portrait of my little wren, once a week, every week, in 2013

Sage - you are able to find the ripest, juiciest blackberries on your Grandy and Pa's vine... every single time! {And then, they never last for more than a moment}.

This week I visited An Endearing Life featuring Kaiyenna - the confident, tiny dancer, and Naiya's eyes - filled with morning wonder. Two absolute darlings.

Florals & Fritters

She sits snug inside her antique throne, rhythmically beating tunes of excitement upon its wooden top. Prepared with love, consideration and fresh garden greens, she curiously observes her unveiling meal. Along its journey, many ingredients are sampled, some met with pleasure, others a turned lip. An entree of blueberries and cheese, her fail-safe favourites, provides the perfect distraction whilst the warming frypan sizzles above. Placed just within reach, golden morsels make their way to her lips and are quickly devoured. Endlessly eager for more.

With delicate florals draping her body, her sweet, aproned bib becomes one with her vintage wears. Seamlessly they meld, offering protection from abandoned crumbs, stray drips and fervent hands - hands which usually are so quick to remove even the most resilient of garments. This delight however, remains unnoticed; a testament to its subtlety, softness and pure comfort. With such a stylish pinny, complimenting both her modern wardrobe pieces and growing thrifted collection, there is hardly need to remove it once meal time is complete. A beautiful extension to the everyday.

Sage wears... vintage top - thrifted, and floral, reversible bib - care of the happy nest.

I first stumbled upon the delights of the happy nest  two years ago at an annual market held in my local town. Instantly, I fell in love with their beautiful, handmade wares - crafted by gorgeous Amy - a busy stay-at-home mother of two fabulous boys. Her eye for design and impeccable quality was undeniable. The most covetable, stylish fabrics were stitched and bound to create both modern and vintage-style pieces; pieces reminiscent of an enchanting childhood. Each one unique and flawlessly executed.

Over the coming month, the happy nest is generously offering Fields of Sage readers an exclusive 15% off their entire store when entering 'fieldsofsage15' at the checkout (excluding play tents). A perfect opportunity to indulge in a little something for the wee one!

My picks?
:: I've had my eye on these gorgeous pants for a while now, especially since Sage has nearly outgrown her current, much-loved pair
:: this divine fabric alphabet can be colour-customised to suit your needs - educational, stylish and oh so sweet!
:: the car wallet would be brilliant for the little man in your life. It even includes a miniature road - perfect for trips on the go!
and these reusable sandwich wraps are the perfect eco-friendly alternative to plastic filled lunch boxes - great for the environment as well as the hip pocket

Offer ends on Friday, April 12th, 2013, so get in quick!

Visit the happy nest at their store here or their blog here. You're sure to find something you love!

10/52 {The Refreshed Edition}

A portrait of my little wren, once a week, every week, in 2013

Sage - your connection to the water astounds me. Forever drawn.

Last week, it was suggested that we choose our favourite portrait from other's who are participating in the 52 series, to share alongside our own photographs each Sunday. My favourite capture? I adored Sunny's sweet expression as she baked beside her mumma, Sophie; a little chef in the making perhaps?

Autumn is the New Summer

In the midst of many journalling their anticipations of delving into Autumnal cosiness, the chill of the coming season arrives all too quickly for those of us living on this blissful, but very southern, island state. Soon we'll be cast into days filled with persistent downpours, defrosting ice laden windscreens and an inability to function without the heater warming our toes; so to say we've been adoring the unseasonably balmy weather of late, would be a mild understatement! Throughout the past week, upon the ringing of the school bell, striped bags are stocked and a two minute drive is all it takes for us to be transported to our little piece of beach side paradise. We'll be drawing out the summer sunshine for as long possible, as all too soon, we'll be dreaming of days just like these...

These two...

she   picks beans and snow peas from our garden vines and together they share, crunching in harmony
he    hovers strategically beneath her highchair each meal - any unwanted, cast away food meets its peril below
she   looks for him from the moment she wakes and typically greets him with a giggle and a chat at the foot of our bed
he    often spends the day lazily snoozing in her nursery, slumbering in there far more than she
she   taunts and teases with tail pulls, animated pats and nostril interrogations; an evil cackle inevitably ensues
he    sits beside her, despite all of the above, and invariably ends up strutting away, irritated and vexed
she   shrieks with delight after time apart, lovingly kisses his fur and then tells him to "stop" after bouts of enthusiastic barking
he    has been oh so patient with his new little sister, and appears to have an understanding even greater than his {dog} years
she   adores him like no other - he's her best little pal, her childhood friend... if only the feeling was mutual!

Do you have a pet in your life? How did they adjust to a new little one entering their world?
